Pharazyn Reserve

Pharazyn Reserve
10/6/16

Today Room 6 & ten members of room 19 went to Pharazyn reserve.

At 8:45 09/06/16 Thursday we caught a bus to Peka Peka so we
could go and plant some plants at Pharazyn reserve.
To help the environment that is.
On the Bus I sat by myself and looked out the window and watched the bus travel from Waikanae Primary School to Peka Peka Pharazyn Reserve.

When we got there we walked off the bus and into the Reserve.
There was a man called Rob that told us how to plant it.
The Way He did it was you take the plant then hang it upside down then carefully pull the bag off the chunk of dirt with the plant in it.
Once he did that he measured the plant’s stalk to the ground level.
(if it’s below, when you put the dirt the light can’t get to the stalk resulting in death.)
Then put a little bit of dirt around it then put a fertilizer beside the plant then eventually put some more soil in the hole then stomped around the edges of the plant to secure it.

When we broke free all I heard was a bunch of screaming and talking
I walked to a hole and picked the plant up with excitement and carefully took the bag off the plant, measured the ground level with the stalk and scooped some dirt in the hole raced over to the fertilizers, took one ran back to the plant, put the fertilizer in the hole then scooped some more dirt in the hole then I was done. I did the same thing about 7 times by myself, in 30 minutes.

(new paragraph)

When we finished, we washed our hands on a big water tank on the back of a truck, when we got our turn a man put some soap on our hands and walked off the soap smelt like sandpaper *BLA*
After we washed our hands we walked up a hill and Rob told us that it all used to be filled with weeds and     blackbushes/bramble. There was a pukeko on a dead chopped down Pinetree.

Then the bus came and everyone screamed racing down the hill to the bus, then we drove back to school.

What I Thought of it:

I thought that it was really fun but I wouldn’t want to have it everyday, I would probably prefer to have it every month.
